Pearl Street Mall is an outdoor pedestrian mall that runs east and west through the center of down town Boulder. Pearl Street Mall is officially 4 block of pedestrian shopping closed to east and west bound traffic. Pearl Street Mall unofficially encompasses the surrounding blocks. Pearl Street Mall offers a wide variety of shops and some of the best restaurants in Boulder.
Pearl Street Mall embodies the spirit of Boulder. Walking down the mall, you will have the opportunity to enjoy some of the best (and worst) street performers in the country. Contortionists, palm readers, flame jugglers, musicians, balloonists, the famous Zip Code Man, and more set up their acts throughout the open areas of the mall. If you enjoy people watching, Pearl Street Mall is one of the best places to be.
Every spring, the Boulder buys thousands of tulip bulbs from Amsterdam to plant throughout the center of Pearl Street Mall. The resulting displays are breathtaking and draw people from all around to see the tulips in full bloom.
Throughout the spring, summer, and fall, Pearl Street Mall hosts several festivals and art shows. Many of the restaurants boast live music for little or no cover charge. Pearl Street Mall has a very active nightlife with plenty of restaurants and bars open late. Check the local paper for events happening while you are in town.
Parking can be a challenge at times, but you can usually find something within walking distance. If you are parking in a metered space, be sure to pay enough at the meter because the city enforcement is very active.
